NALEO Washington, DC Office
The NALEO Educational Fund’s Washington, DC office provides national leadership for important public discussions on the key issues affecting Latino participation in our political process, including immigration and naturalization, election reform, voting rights, the Census, and the appointment of qualified Latinos to top government executive and judicial positions. Our policy priorities include:
- Ensuring that our nation’s naturalization process is fair and accessible to all of our newcomers;
- Promoting comprehensive immigration reform that recognizes the valuable contributions that immigrants make to the social, economic, cultural and civic life of our country;
- Advocating for the strict and vigorous enforcement of voting rights laws that protect Americans from discrimination in the electoral process;
- Ensuring that our nation implements its federal election reform policies in a manner that enhances opportunities for Latino participation in our democracy
- Ensuring that our nation’s Census provides the most accurate count possible of our population; and
- Promoting the appointment of qualified Latinos to top federal executive and judicial positions, so that our nation can benefit from wealth of talent that Latinos bring to public service.
Working with Latino Elected and Appointed Officials to Strengthen our Democracy
The NALEO Educational Fund’s Washington, DC office works closely with Latino elected and appointed officials nationwide to achieve our vision of a stronger and more vital democracy. We can provide Latino officials with resources on our advocacy issues, including action alerts, fact sheets, and research publications. In addition, we help Latino officials who are visiting Washington schedule meetings with Members of Congress, the White House Administration and other key policymakers.
