The NALEO Educational Fund convenes this annual Summit to highlight the current state of Latino education. The Summit is designed to enhance your working knowledge of the state of education as it pertains to Latino students by engaging in a cross-jurisdictional dialogue with school board members, community college trustees, municipal officials, state legislators and Members of Congress on issues such as Pre-K and the early grades, the No Child Left Behind Act, high school reform, and higher education access.
The Summit will provide a concrete overview of the state of Latino education in sessions devised to present timely data on the academic achievement of Latino students. An instrumental component of the Summit will be the participants’ opportunity to review and develop strategic plans of action with fellow elected officials to undertake the task of working to close the achievement gap.
If you are interested in attending the Summit, please fill out the enclosed registration form and return it to the NALEO Educational Fund by Friday, August 10, 2007. Once we receive the form indicating your interest in attending the Summit, we will send you additional information.
Space is limited as we are offering this Summit to elected officials across the nation.
Please note that there is no fee to attend the Summit for current, paid NALEO members. Complimentary lodging (two-night stay) and travel are available to you if you are unable to obtain funding from your office. Please contact Mr. Eric Wagner at the NALEO Educational Fund at (213) 747-7606, ext. 127, or at ewagner@naleo.org for further details.
We look forward to seeing you at the Summit and working with you to improve the state of education for Latino students around the country.
