Dear Latino Elected Official:
We invite you to join other Latino elected officials for an Immigration Reform Advocacy Day in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, September 13, 2006 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. This event is being organized by the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) Educational Fund.
As Congress moves to the final legislative stages of the complex issue of reforming
our broken immigration system, protecting our borders and developing comprehensive immigration policies, the input of our communities and local Latino elected officials who represent them is essential.
On September 13, Latino elected officials from throughout the country will be in the Nation's Capital to hold important meetings with Members of Congress to express their support for the expeditious enactment of comprehensive immigration laws.
NALEO is developing resources that will assist you in implementing your own strategy
for your Immigration Reform Advocacy Day. These resources will include information to help you plan a successful Immigration Reform Advocacy Day, useful tips on how to participate in a successful Congressional visit and updates regarding immigration reform legislation and the ongoing Congressional debate. NALEO will also prepare sample resolutions that can be adopted statewide and locally supporting comprehensive immigration reform and opposing unfair and ineffective legislative initiatives. NALEO
will provide further information to participants as the date approaches.
On September 13, 2006, the Immigration Reform Advocacy Day is scheduled to begin
at 11:00 a.m. with a press conference that will feature Members of Congress, followed by scheduled visits to Congressional offices. The day will conclude at 3:00 p.m.
