NALEO California Health Leadership Program

The NALEO California Health Leadership Program (NCHLP) is an intensive program for a select number
of Latino elected officials in California. It offers them education, technical assistance, and leadership development. Participants attend skill development sessions, and develop and implement action plans to address the target issues in their communities. NCHLP members played a central role in planning
the agenda and strategy sessions. All members received time to highlight their work and served as discussion group and activity leaders. Session panels focused on building health leadership and improving the shcool environment. In addition, strategy sessions gave local elected officials a clearer view of their role as health policy decision makers and enhanced their ability to make the case for change.
