On behalf of the NALEO Educational Fund, we extend an invitation for you to attend the NALEO Education Leadership Initiative (NELI) Policy Institute on The Reauthorization of the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act, scheduled to take place February 16-18, 2007, at the Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City Hotel in California.
The objective of this Policy Institute is to promote your understanding of the reauthorization process for the No Child Left Behind Act and its implications for Latino students. President Bush and the new Democratic Congress have promised the reauthorization of No Child Left Behind will be a top item on the 110th Congressional agenda. Without question, NCLB is one of the federal government’s most sweeping changes to education in more than a generation, affecting every district, school, and student in the United States. This Institute allows you, as an elected official, to learn more about key aspects of the No Child Left Behind Act. It also enables you to learn more about what role you can play in the reauthorization process and on ensuring that the Act helps close the educational achievement gap for Latino students.
If you are interested in attending the Institute, please fill out the enclosed registration form and return it to the NALEO Educational Fund. Once we receive the form indicating your interest in attending the Institute, we will send you additional information. Space is limited, as we are offering this Institute to elected officials from around the country.
Please note that there is no fee to attend the Institute for current, paid NALEO members. Complimentary lodging (two-night stay) and travel are available to you if you are unable to obtain funding from your office. Please contact Eric Wagner at the NALEO Educational Fund at (213) 747-7606, ext. 127, or at ewagner@naleo.org for further details.
We look forward to seeing you at the Institute and working with you to improve the state of education for Latino students in the country.
