On behalf of the NALEO Educational Fund, we extend an invitation for you to attend the NALEO
Education Leadership Initiative (NELI) Florida Statewide Policy Institute on Higher Education
Access and Success, April 11-13, 2008, at the Miami Beach Resort and Spa.
The objective of this Policy Institute is to convene Hispanic elected officials from across
Florida to enable them to further Hispanic student achievement at the state level through the interpretation of successful higher education access principals and promising practices.
Issue areas include access and retention, student preparedness, and creating a seamless preschool to graduate studies (P-20) educational pipeline.
The Institute is an excellent opportunity for all Florida Hispanic elected officials, including county and municipal officials, community college trustees, school board members and state legislators to share model initiatives and best practices on higher education access. Expert information will include the latest research, model programs, and policy recommendations from state and local agencies, as well as higher education policy researchers. Elected officials will also have the opportunity to identify key strategic partnerships they can develop and how these can help promote effective higher education access policy. Whether you are a seasoned leader or just beginning your tenure, join the growing network of elected policymakers dedicated to strengthening educational opportunities for all students.
If you are interested in attending the Institute, please fill out the enclosed registration form and
return it to the NALEO Educational Fund by Wednesday, March 12, 2008. Once we receive the
form indicating your interest in attending the Institute, we will send you additional information.
Please note that there is no fee to attend the Institute for current, paid NALEO members.
Complimentary lodging (two-night stay) and travel are available to you if you are unable to obtain funding from your office. Feel free to contact Eric Wagner at the NALEO Educational Fund at (213) 747-7606, Ext. 141, or at ewagner@naleo.org for further details.
