The Organization
The National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) Educational Fund was established in 1981 to empower Latinos to participate fully in the American political process. The NALEO Educational Fund carries out this mission by developing and implementing programs that promote Latino civic participation and voter engagement, provide technical assistance and training to the nation’s Latino elected and appointed officials, and conduct policy analysis and research on issues affecting Latino access to the political process.
The NALEO Educational Fund is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization governed by a 15-member Board of Directors and a 25-member Board of Advisors. Both Boards are comprised of members of Congress, state and local elected officials, and corporate leaders from across the country.
The NALEO Educational Fund maintains offices in Los Angeles, Washington D.C., Houston, and New York. It employs about 40 full-time staff with an annual budget of $5 million.
The Position
The Web Manager is responsible for the continued development and management of the organization’s various internet sites. Key duties include: performing routine daily, weekly, and periodic major and minor updates of online text, photographs, and forms; maintain website format and navigation to ensure continuity and standardization, and to provide for ease of updating; evaluate, track, and report usage of the organization’s websites, and recommend improvements to existing Internet site for increased effectiveness and efficiency by utilizing analyses and usage trends; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with other departments and partners; content management; user support; troubleshooting; and other related duties as assigned. The annual salary for this position is commensurate with qualifications and experience, and will range from $39,000 to $43,000 with an excellent benefits package that includes, medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, and retirement.
Qualifications
- Web technologies including HTML, CSS, XML, PHP, MYSQL
- Experience with Content Management Systems (i.e., Mambo/Joomla)
- Web based applications including database driven applications
- Experience working with application service providers and hosted solutions
- Web standards and best practices
- Networking, Linux servers;
- Relevant technology for websites (i.e., design, development concepts, management
tools, operation, data base, content
publishing and related net technologies and protocols)
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously, pay attention to detail, and work well under strict deadlines
- Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced and changing environment, a consummate team-player
- Must be a licensed California driver, with proof of automobile insurance coverage
- Ability to work respectfully with people of all cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
- Supportive of the mission and philosophy of the NALEO Educational Fund
