LOS ANGELES, CA—The National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) issued the following statement regarding Arizona Senate Minority Leader Jorge Luis García.

“The National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) joins the Latino community across the nation and in Arizona in particular in remembering the life and work of Arizona Senate Minority Leader Jorge Luis García, who recently passed away on Friday, October 15, 2010. Senator García’s voice and leadership will certainly be greatly missed. NALEO extends our deepest condolences to his family.

Senator García, an active member of NALEO, resided in Tucson and was elected to the Arizona State Senate in 2003. He served on both the Senate Government Institutions and Rules committees. He had previously served in the Arizona House of Representatives from 1993 to 1997.

Senator García was an avid supporter of the Arizona Legislative Latino Caucus and had served in the past as Caucus Co-Chair.”
