NALEO Educational Fund Co-Sponsors Letter with
California Secretary of State on Voter Intimidation

We are pleased to advise you that the NALEO Educational Fund is actively working with the Secretary of State and key Latino civil rights organizations to allay concerns in the Latino community of Orange County and secure the full participation of all eligible Latino voters in the November 7 elections.

The NALEO Educational Fund, along with the California Secretary of State’s Office, NCLR and MALDEF, has co-sponsored a letter in an effort to undo the detrimental impact of recent actions of voter intimidation targeting our community. The Secretary of State will mail the letter to all 14,000 Latino voters targeted by the tactics, informing them of their right to vote and California registration requirements. The letter also encourages all eligible voters to participate in the November 7 elections.

In addition to these efforts, the NALEO Educational Fund has made available its national bilingual voter information hotline 1-888 Ve-Y-Vota (839-8682) to document incidents of voter intimidation and provide information on all aspects of the electoral process, from registering to vote and casting a ballot on election day.
